| 02-02-2005  Clio's 2005 programme |
Clio on active service across Europe
The established benchmark in its category with a harvest of seven titles to its name in 2004, the Clio Super 1600 has high expectations for its fourth season of active competition. Whether it be in the European Championship (with Simon Jean-Joseph), in France (Franck Amaudru, Emmanuel Guigou) or in a long list of national campaigns, its objective is to build on its already glittering record!

The car will also be a major draw for those young drivers who have chosen to compete in this year's Clio Rally Cup which represents an opportunity to win a Super 1600 prize-drive in 2006. Launched in 2004, the series will run in parallel this year with the newly-created Clio Group N Trophy.

After achieving all its objectives in 2003 and 2004, Clio Team will this year focus its attention exclusively on the European Championship in which Simon Jean-Joseph and his co-driver Jack Boyère, who have obtained more than thirty wins with Clio Super 1600, will be out to defend their crown. Once again, their car will be run by Oreca.

Meanwhile, Clio Super 1600 will be present in the French Championship with two cars entered for every round. They will be driven by the 2004 Clio Rally Cup winner Franck Amaudru and by Emmanuel Guigou who has been loyal to Renault since 2003. Preparation of these two Clios has been entrusted to Renault Sport's technical partner LAD. The programme will also include the Rallye de Dieppe (May 7th/8th) and the Rallye Cœur de France (September 3rd/4th).

The Renault flag will be flown high and proud in numerous other national championships. With more than sixty Clio Super 1600s sold to date, the model enjoys a record that will be tough to beat and Renault Sport will provide its customers with technical support at more than 100 events in 2005, including JWRC and ERC rounds, plus national championships in Germany, Belgium, Catalonia, Spain, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Holland, Poland, Portugal and Turkey…
