Big
sister to the Formula Renault 2000, the Formula Renault V6 started
competing in 2003.
Used in Eurocup, the FR V6 is designed to prepare young talents,
team managers and mechanics for the pinnacle of motorsport :
Formula 1.
To do this, the car uses the very latest technology, such as a
semi-automatic gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted controls. The
clutch pedal has disappeared, leaving drivers to brake with their
left foot. The 3500cc V6, from the Vel Satis, develops 370
bhp.
This propels the drivers to over 290 km/h.
New features in the car for 2004 include particularly carbon
brakes (discs and pads) and new more efficient tyres developed by
Michelin.
